Jini Kim

Hi! I am a Ph.D. student at Human Computer Interaction Institute at the Carnegie Mellon University, School of Computer Science, where I am co-advised by Profs. Jodi Forlizzi and Hong Shen.

My research examines how generative AI opens up new possibilities for supporting everyday work, while also introducing limitations, risks, and misaligned outputs. I investigate how people understand, interpret, and adapt these challenges in real-world contexts. Based on these insights, I design practical guidelines and user-facing supports that help people use AI more effectively and reliably in their everyday workflows.

Currently, I collaborate with creative professionals and mental health peer specialists to study how generative AI is reshaping their work, and how they interpret, adapt, and align LLM outputs with their lived experiences and values.

I obtained my Master's degree in Industrial Design from KAIST (Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology). Prior to my master's, I received a B.S. in ICT (Information and Communications Technology) & UX Design from Handong Global University.
